Genuine cloisonné emblems are made by filling the recesses in the die-struck
metal with material in one of the 96 available colors on the color chart. After each color is applied, the emblem is fired so that the material melts and fuzes to the metal. This is why each color field must |

be contained within a recessed area with a "fence" of metal surrounding it (Note the metal divider separating the yellow circle from the black background at left). After the emblem has cooled, the surface is ground flat and polished so that the metal and color surfaces are flush with one another. | ||||||||||||||||||||
